Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Ponguru Narayana stated that government schools are being developed to meet international standards by providing state-of-the-art facilities alongside quality education.
The Minister, along with Municipal Commissioner Y. O. Nandan and District Educational Officer R. Balaji Rao, inspected Mallela Sanjeevaiah Memorial Municipal High School in AC Nagar in 14th Division of Nellore on Monday (July 6, 2026).
Chairing a review meeting with the education department officials and teachers, he said the State government is focused on providing better infrastructure alongside quality education in government schools.
Mr. Narayana said, “Under the guidance of Education Minister Nara Lokesh, several government schools in Nellore are being developed to meet corporate standards. The construction of additional classrooms has been undertaken in response to the significant rise in student enrolment.”
While six classrooms have already been completed, the construction of another 28 classrooms is progressing rapidly. Around 18 types of specialised educational facilities—including labs for computers and robotics, as well as music rooms and a library—are being set up here, he added.
The Minister further revealed that modern buildings with 36 classrooms are being constructed to provide quality education on a single campus—spanning levels from Anganwadi, Nursery, Pre-primary to Grade-10—with the potential to conduct Intermediate classes in the future.
He stated that the ongoing construction work would be completed by next January or February, making fully equipped schools available to students for the new academic year.
Udayagiri Development
Meanwhile, the Minister said that the State government is according top priority to the comprehensive development of Udayagiri region and aims to pave the way for economic growth by establishing industries and creating employment opportunities.
Mr. Narayana, during a review meeting with officials, stated that ₹1,098.79 crore has been allocated for the welfare of Udayagiri over the past two years, and four industries have already received approval, which are expected to provide employment to approximately 4,000 people. “Udayagiri area is a suitable place for setting up industries and the government is giving priority to the development of tourism along with industries,” the Minister said.
Later, he inaugurated CC roads constructed at a cost of ₹1.70 crore.
