U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor hosted a dinner at Roosevelt House on Sunday (October 4, 2026) for Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, Commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, during his October 5-8 visit to India, bringing together senior Indian military leadership and officials to highlight the growing U.S.-India Major Defence Partnership.

According to the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, Admiral Paparo joined Chief of Defence Staff General N.S. Raja Subramani, Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth, Vice Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff Air Marshal Tejinder Singh and other senior Indian defence officials at the dinner.

The gathering came as Admiral Paparo is in India to advance the U.S.-India major defence partnership and deepen military-to-military cooperation.

During his visit, he is expected to engage with Indian counterparts on shared security priorities, including maritime cooperation, emerging technologies, regional strategic stability and defence energy resilience.

Admiral Paparo heads the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, the oldest and largest of the country’s geographic combatant commands, overseeing U.S. military operations across the Indo-Pacific.

The dinner also brought an economic dimension to the bilateral engagement, with Montana Governor Greg Gianforte attending along with a delegation of business and industry leaders visiting India.

The U.S. Embassy said the gathering reflected the breadth of the India-U.S. relationship, with its defence and economic foundations continuing to expand.

Admiral Paparo’s visit comes amid deepening defence ties between India and the U.S., with the two countries seeking to expand cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, maritime security, defence technology and other emerging strategic areas.
