Hours after being placed under preventive arrest, Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were sent to five days of judicial custody in Jantar Mantar trespassing case on Wednesday (October 14, 2026). They will be lodged in the Tihar Jail.

An FIR was registered against the two under sections pertaining to breach of bond, criminal trespass and disobedience of orders, among other charges. Ajinkya Shinde, who was also placed under preventive arrest, was released on a personal bond. Jantar Mantar was de-notified as a designated protest site on Monday (October 12, 2026).

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi said the Congress has the utmost respect for the Chief Justice of India, the Supreme Court and the judicial system, while asserting that political and public resistance will continue and ultimately triumph.

Amid the ongoing row, Ramlila Maidan, designated as one of the three new protest sites in the capital, has no free dates for the next two and a half months. Only December 29, 30 and 31 are open for booking, according to officials.
