Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday directed the police to intensify the crackdown on ganja trafficking and drug abuse across the State.
“Narcotics have come to threaten society and enforcement agencies must adopt a zero-tolerance approach to eliminate the menace, and protect the youth,” Mr. Naidu said during an interaction with the representatives of the Brahma Kumaris spiritual organisation here.
The Chief Minister instructed the senior police officials to strengthen surveillance, curb trafficking networks, and ensure stringent action against those involved in the illegal drug trade.
He later viewed a presentation on how meditation was being used to support the rehabilitation of people affected by substance abuse.
CT scan, dialysis centre
Earlier, as part of the Swarna Kuppam Vision-2029 project, the Chief Minister launched an advanced CT scan centre at the Kuppam Government Area Hospital, set up at a cost of ₹1.70 crore through the CSR funds from the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

Mr. Naidu also inaugurated a newly commissioned dialysis centre at the hospital and reviewed its functioning.
The officials informed the Chief Minister that over 45,000 dialysis sessions had been completed so far, serving 233 patients and treating about 45 patients daily in three shifts, while nearly 500 patients awaited their turn. Mr. Naidu directed the officials to expand the facility with more equipment to meet rising demand.

Later, he reviewed the Sanjeevani Digital Health Initiative with the project officials, highlighting that preventive healthcare should be the foundation of the State’s medical system.
Calling for integration of medical records from the government and private hospitals into a unified digital platform, the Chief Minister said it would enable every citizen have a single health record.
The Chief Minister also examined healthcare innovations, including QR code-based emergency health cards, portable AI-powered blood testing devices and early disease detection technologies.
