As a result, the total number of accused persons who have been denied bail in the case has gone up to 22.
Meanwhile, former Attukal ward councillor Unnikrishnan, who is also an accused in the case, has filed a fresh petition seeking permission to attend to his critically ill father. His bail plea had been rejected earlier. The court is scheduled to consider the petition on Friday.
The prosecution, while urging the court to deny the bail pleas, said the investigation team is examining the possible involvement of senior CPI(M) leaders in the case. As part of unravelling the conspiracy, the investigators have been collecting and analysing the call records of several party leaders to determine whether any instructions were issued to party workers that could have led to the alleged attack on ED officials.
