A Delhi court on Friday (September 11, 2026) sent advocate Shubham Tyagi, an accused in the Satya Niketan PG collapse which claimed seven lives, to two days police custody.
The development came a day after court denied Mr.
Tyagi anticipatory bail.
He had been absconding since the day of the incident.

In the custody application, the Delhi police claimed that Mr.
Tyagi and Sudhanshu, another PG operator of the same building, need to be confronted for interrogation.
In his application, Mr.
Tyagi claimed he had only invested in the PG business run by his friend Sudhanshu Kumar and had no control over the premises.
To challenge this, the prosecution produced a rent agreement naming Mr.
Tyagi as lessee.
Satya Niketan building collapse: PG operator, labour contractor sent to two-day police custody The court observed that anyone operating a paying-guest facility has a responsibility to remain aware of the building’s condition.
It said that when occupants raise objections to ongoing construction, the operator should approach the owner or authorities rather than threaten residents with eviction.
Meanwhile, the court also remanded Mahesh Gupta and Sanoj to judicial custody after police interrogation.
Mr Gupta is the building owner’s son, and Sanoj is a labour contractor.
