The Delhi High Court on Thursday (October 8, 2026) sought response of the city police and Deputy Chief Minister Parvesh Verma on a plea seeking an independent probe into the incident where the leader allegedly slapped an AAP worker.
Justice Sachin Datta issued notice to the police and Mr.
Verma on the petition, and asked them to file their reply on the status report.

The court listed the matter for further hearing on November 17.
Mr.
Verma, who is also the Delhi Public Works Department Minister, slapped the aide of AAP Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh on September 27, 2026, during an inspection of a newly laid road on the Vikaspuri section of the Outer Ring Road.

He claimed that he handles the AAP MLA’s social media accounts.
A video of the alleged incident was circulated by the AAP with its party chief Arvind Kejriwal calling for the arrest of the Minister.
In response, the Minister said the AAP workers at the site abused him and his family, which led him to react in a manner “any common man would do”.
