Lazio win 2-1 while Roma draw 3-3 with Napoli
Beier gives Dortmund win over Eintracht Frankfurt
Lazio climbed to the top of Serie A with a 2-1 home win over Parma as Roma twice came from behind to secure a 3-3 draw with Napoli in a pulsating clash in Naples.
Lazio have 22 points from their eight matches this season and are three points clear of champions Inter Milan, who have played a game fewer and host Fiorentina on Sunday. Lazio opened the scoring in the 50th minute as Kenneth Taylor struck his first of the season, before Parma’s Diego Carlos put the ball into his own net trying to cut out a cross. The visitors scored a late consolation through Simone Lontani.
Third-placed Roma trailed 2-0 and then 3-2 late on, so will be pleased with a point in Naples as they preserved their 15-game unbeaten league run that dates back to April. Frank Anguissa’s spectacular overhead kick gave Napoli the lead and Scott McTominay doubled the advantage.
At that stage they were cruising, but two goals in four minutes from Matías Soulé and Leonardo Balerdi drew Roma level. When McTominay added his second in the closing stages the momentum swung back in Napoli’s favour, but Balerdi headed an equaliser for Roma with a minute remaining.
“We maintained roles, positions and our way of playing,” said the Roma coach, Gian Piero Gasperini. “The goals were of quality. We are fine [with the result], with high morale. Balerdi knows football, has extraordinary energy and has been a great signing for us.”
Como backed up their Champions League victory over Manchester United as Anastasios Douvikas scored twice in 11 minutes for a 2-0 win against Sassuolo. They climbed to fourth in the table.
In Germany, Maximilian Beier scored in the 80th minute to send Borussia Dortmund top of the Bundesliga table after a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
In a game lacking clear chances, Jobe Bellingham came off the bench and threaded a clever pass for his fellow substitute Beier to score less than a minute later. The narrow victory was Dortmund’s first in the league since mid-September and took Niko Kovac’s side three points clear at the top.
Bayern Munich can return to the top with a win at Freiburg on Sunday but will be without their coach, Vincent Kompany, who is being treated in hospital for a mystery virus after collapsing at training on Friday.
Niclas Füllkrug scored for the sixth straight Bundesliga match as Werder Bremen won 3-2 at Mainz. Füllkrug, who returned to Bremen on loan from West Ham in the summer, converted two penalties inside the opening 25 minutes. Ludovit Reis grabbed Bremen’s other goal, while Anthony Caci and Lee Jae-sung scored for the hosts.

RB Leipzig completed a comfortable 4-0 home win over promoted Elversberg. Romulo scored twice while Tidiam Gomis and Christoph Baumgartner also got on the scoresheet. Paderborn’s Rayan Philippe scored in the 88th minute against Hamburg, his parent club, to grab the promoted side a 1-0 victory. Augsburg drew 1-1 with Union Berlin as both sides finished with 10 men. Cologne and Schalke played out a scoreless draw in a match marred by a head clash between the visitor’s Robin Gosens and Soufiane El-Faouzi, who left the field after a first-half collision.
A Coruña at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano. Julián Alvarez struck three minutes into the second half as Diego Simeone’s side extended their unbeaten run to eight matches in all competitions and moved within two points of leaders Barcelona ahead of El Clasico on Sunday.
Georges Mikautadze, meanwhile, snatched a late 2-1 win for Villarreal in their derby against Valencia, who had Harvey Elliott sent off as both sides finished with 10 men. The visitors came from behind to triumph, leaving Javier Aguirre’s side 19th.

Pepelu put Valencia ahead from the penalty spot in the first half before the American defender Alex Freeman headed the visitors level after 69 minutes. Iñigo Pérez’s Villarreal had Pape Gueye sent off when the Senegal international hit José Gayà in the face with his elbow.
However, Elliott, who is on loan from Liverpool, was soon dismissed for two quick yellow cards for apparent dissent. Mikautadze broke through in stoppage time, racing through and finishing with aplomb to claim the three points.
In France, Lens came from behind to beat Paris FC 2-1 with Thorgan Hazard’s 83rd-minute winner taking them to within a point of the Ligue 1 leaders. Lens, who were runners-up last season, made a slow start to the season and fired coach Dino Toppmöller after six matches in charge, but under Yannick Cahuzac they have won successive French league games to advance to 13 points from eight matches. They are one point behind five clubs who share the lead on 14, including Paris FC.
