The family of K.K. Mahesan, the former Kanichukulangara union secretary of Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam, met Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala at his residence in Haripad and sought a fresh probe into his suicide case on Sunday.
. Mahesan’s wife Usha Devi, who submitted a formal complaint, told mediapersons that the Minister patiently heard their concerns despite his busy schedule and assured them that appropriate action would be taken.
She alleged that no further action had been taken in the case and the existing investigation had not proceeded since Mr. Natesan and his son Thushar Vellappally, who is an accused in the case, were involved in it.
Ms. Usha also accused Mr. Natesan and Mr. Vellappally of making defamatory remarks against her late husband to coerce the family to withdraw from the case. “But we cannot be deterred by such attempts. We will continue our fight until we receive justice,” she said.
She had earlier submitted a formal complaint to Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan shortly after the United Democratic Front (UDF) government came to power. Mahesan was found hanging at the SNDP Yogam office at Kanichukulangara in Alappuzha in June 2020. He was also the State coordinator of the SNDP Yogam’s controversial microfinance scheme.
