Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Sunday (July 5, 2026) laid the foundation stone for a defence manufacturing plant of the Adani Group being built in Shivpuri district.

The unit, a missile and propellant manufacturing facility, is being set up by the Adani Defence and Aerospace, a subsidiary of the Adani Group, at a cost of ₹2,500 crore.

Addressing a public event for the ceremony, Mr. Yadav said that that the unit will provide employment to more than 4,000 people in the region.

“This land of Chambal has been demonstrating its strength for centuries. The valiant warriors, soldiers, officers, and citizens from this region risk their lives to defend the nation at the borders. Whenever Chambal has stepped forward, it has sung a new song of patriotism. I am delighted that a new chapter of history is being written today. A new chapter in the defence sector is beginning today from Shivpuri. The missiles manufactured here will travel long distances to strike enemy territory, thereby enhancing India’s honour and prestige. Today, this dream of ours is also becoming a reality,” Mr. Yadav said.

Other development projects

Mr. Yadav also announced various development projects in the area, including a road connecting Shivpuri to a national highway at ₹120 crore and a cardiology unit in Shrimant Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Medical College.

Mr. Scindia said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government led by Mr. Yadav has won the trust of investors.

“Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has won the confidence of investors. Jeet Adani, representing the young leadership of the Adani Group, remarked that today is a special day. ‘Mission-ready’ missiles will be manufactured here. Madhya Pradesh is developing at a rapid pace; the state is advancing on the path of progress thanks to the hard work of Mohan Yadav. The Adani Group is investing in several districts of the State. This investment is not merely in a specific project but is an investment in the people of Madhya Pradesh and their future. This project will provide employment to 5,000 people in Shivpuri,” Mr. Scindia said.

Earlier an official statement said that the plant will generate direct and indirect employment opportunities, including jobs for local residents.

“This project will impart fresh momentum to the industrial development vision underlying Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ [self-reliant India] and ‘Make in India’ initiatives. Additionally, it will provide an opportunity for the region’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to integrate into the defense production supply chain,” it said.
