But sometimes, creating the future means walking away from a successful corporate career and returning to one's roots.That is exactly what Vikramdev Mohapatra from Nabarangpur, Odisha, did.After spending 14 years in the IT industry and working with leading technology companies, the BTech graduate made a decision that many would consider risky.
He left behind software development and entered an entirely different field — commercial mushroom farming.Today, his venture not only generates significant revenue but also creates employment opportunities in his community.From software engineer to full-time farmer Vikramdev completed his BTech in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Odisha, in 2012.Like thousands of engineering graduates, he began his career in the IT sector.
Over the next 14 years, he worked with several companies, including Discoverture Solutions, Mindtree, Serole Technologies, and LTIMindtree.His professional journey included roles such as software engineer, module lead, technical lead and senior specialist in package implementation.
His work involved software development, product implementation, SAP solutions, team management and client coordination.On paper, it was a stable and successful career.Yet, he decided to make a dramatic shift.Instead of continuing in the corporate world, he returned to Nabarangpur and established Ganga Bhumi Mushrooms, a commercial mushroom production and processing unit.
