4 crore.
The film, a remake of Priyadarshan's own Malayalam hit 'Oppam', now faces the challenge of building momentum through its first weekend as it competes for screen space and audience attention against other major releases like 'Mirzapur The Movie' and the sleeper hit, 'Hanuman Ansh' currently running in theatres.
With a subdued Day 1 start, the immediate task at hand for 'Haiwaan' is to show some upward movement over the weekend, a pattern that often decides how a film's overall theatrical fate shapes up in its opening days. With its opening numbers on the softer side, 'Haiwaan' will need a solid weekend push to inch past the Rs.
5 crore mark and build a case for a longer theatrical run.
A lot will depend on whether positive word-of-mouth around its cast and premise can offset the slow start, with the Rs.
10 crore mark serving as the next realistic checkpoint if the film manages to hold its shows through the weekend.
