Harshit Ranjan NEW DELHI: The son of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) Public Relations Officer (PRO) Dr Nalini Ranjan was allegedly attacked by two neighbours in a Dwarka residential society on August 26.According to a statement issued by the university’s Public Relations Department, the incident followed an alleged confrontation after a pet dog was set on Dr Ranjan’s daughter, Yashika Ranjan, while she was walking inside DDA Sarvahit Apartments, opposite the university’s Dwarka Campus.The statement alleged that flat owner Arvind Tiwari and his son Ashish Tiwari subsequently attacked Harshit Ranjan with a sharp object.

The incident took place near a property dealer’s office in the society.

A PCR call was made and Harshit was taken to Indira Gandhi Hospital for treatment.The university alleged that medical treatment was delayed by around two hours as the local Dwarka North police station had not informed the hospital’s Chief Medical Officer.It further alleged that a relative of the accused threatened the PRO’s family while medical examination was underway, in the presence of a doctor and police personnel.According to the university, police have recorded statements from both sides but an FIR has not yet been registered.

The allegations and circumstances of the incident are subject to police investigation.
