Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday (July 25, 2026) reiterated the demands of student protesters, highlighting the main one of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s removal. He also stated that moving Mr. Pradhan to another Ministry is not “acceptable”, referring to information he has received on the solutions being considered by the PM Modi-led Cabinet. Mr. Gandhi spoke reporters in New Delhi alongside three students, who are also part of the the All India Students’ Association (AISA) - the students wing of the CPI(ML) Liberation.
A two-member delegation of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is expected to meet the government for a third round of talks on Saturday afternoon (July 25, 2026). Spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the location of the meeting is not disclosed yet and reiterated their “non-negotiable” demand for Mr. Pradhan’s resignation. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said he has been diagnosed with typhoid. At least 18 Delhi Metro stations in central Delhi remained closed for the fourth straight day due to “security concerns”.
Meanwhile, the number of FIRs by the Delhi Police against protesters who participated in the July 20 march to Parliament in the national capital. Among the CJP’s demands are a public apology to the protesting students who were “brutally thrashed” on July 20 and assurance that no FIRs will be lodged against any of them.
In a move to crack down on exam malpractices, the Centre has taken a slew of actions, including strengthening the anti-paper leak law and terminating services of up to 47 officials in the National Testing Agency (NTA). In the meeting with Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh on Friday (July 24), the CJP also demanded ₹1 crore compensation for the families of those who died by suicide after the NEET-UG paper ‘leak’ this year.
