He was released on bail later the same day.Muraleedharan said he had been informed that the prosecution's case was not presented effectively and that the government would examine the reasons for it and take appropriate action.“He was booked for offences for which it was not easy to get bail, as that was the kind of statements he made.

Mohandas has been charged under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Information Technology Act and the Kerala Police Act.
The case was registered following a complaint alleging that videos uploaded on his YouTube channel, 'Pathrika', were intended to disturb public order and create fear and unrest.In the video, Mohandas allegedly said the student protest in Delhi could lead to incidents of gang rape and made derogatory remarks about women participating in the demonstration.
He also allegedly claimed that some people could be killed or permanently injured during the protest and that their bodies would subsequently be taken to hospitals.
