The Madras High Court has summoned Tindivanam Sub Collector A.K. Akash on September 25, 2026 to explain the reason for not having complied with a court order to post a Village Administrative Officer in a non-senstive post after revoking his suspension order.
Justice P.T. Asha ordered the Sub Collector to be present in the court pursuant to a contempt of court petition filed against him. Convinced with the allegations levelled against the officer, the judge wrote: “This is nothing but a clear act of contempt of orders of this Court.”
The judge had on April 29, 2026 allowed a writ petition filed by V. Karunakaran who had been suspended on account of a criminal case pending against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The judge ordered that his supension must be revoked and he must be accommodated in a non-senstive post.
Though the Sub Collector had revoked the suspension order in accordance with the court directive, he had rejected the petitioner’s plea to accommodate him in a non-sensitive post and hence the present contempt plea.
