A Group of Ministers on Thursday held detailed discussions on formulation of the State’s new retail excise policy with the existing one set to expire on September 30.
The meeting, chaired by Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra, was held at the Prohibition and Excise Commissioner’s office in Mangalagiri.
Ministers Kondapalli Srinivas (MSME), Gottipati Ravi Kumar (Energy) and Satya Kumar Yadav (Health) participated in the deliberations virtually.
Principal Secretary-Revenue (Excise) Mukesh Kumar Meena, Director of Excise and Prohibition Chamkuri Sridhar, Enforcement Director Rahul Dev Sharma and senior excise officials attended.
Officials presented the Ministers a comprehensive review of the performance of the 2024-26 retail excise policy and its results up to July 2026. They also placed before the Ministers various proposed models for the new policy to be implemented after September 30, along with suggestions and feedback received from different stakeholders.
The Ministers examined the proposed models and discussed them at length. After reviewing the available data and statistics, they directed the officials to revise the proposals further and resubmit them with complete details and supporting data.
The exercise is aimed at framing a new retail excise policy based on the performance of the existing system, its outcomes and stakeholder feedback.
