The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday (July 5, 2026) issued a red alert for Mumbai and Raigad district, valid for the next three hours due to heavy rainfall since Saturday (July 4) night. Mumbai has recorded more than 250-300 mm of rainfall in the last 23 hours in a few areas of the city. The IMD has forecasted moderate to intense spells of rain across these regions.
Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds lashed Jaisalmer on Saturday (July 4, 2026) night, uprooting solar panels installed on the rooftop of a hotel, which crashed onto a road below and seriously injured a man and his two grandchildren travelling on a scooter. According to police, the incident occurred in the Gandhi Colony area when strong winds dislodged the solar panels from the hotel rooftop.
Meanwhile, with continuous rainfall in Uttarakhand bringing in landslides and rising water levels, authorities on Sunday intensified monitoring and safety measures along the Shri Kedarnath Yatra route in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district to ensure the safe movement of pilgrims. Disaster Management personnel have been deployed at all vulnerable locations along the trekking route, while the District Disaster Management Control Room is maintaining round-the-clock surveillance of the entire Yatra route.
