Two women were killed at the mall in Japan hit by a powerful earthquake and subsequent explosion, Japan’s public broadcaster NHK reported early Wednesday, citing local officials.

A day after warning of fresh protests over the Centre’s alleged violation of the assurance that no punitive action would be taken against protesters, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Tuesday called on the government to stop “targeting and witch-hunting” students.
“If the harassment of students at the hands of the police continues, the Cockroach Janta Party will respond with a massive peaceful protest soon,” he posted on X.
13 Indian sailors trapped amid attacks in Black Sea: Union
Fifteen sailors, including 13 Indians, are trapped in a “terrible and life-threatening situation” at the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk in the Black Sea owing to missile and drone attacks in the vicinity, says Forward Seamen’s Union of India (FSUI). The crew members, who are onboard M.V. AMIR1, are living under the constant fear of a direct hit at any moment, according to an FSUI post on X.
“We urgently appeal to all concerned authorities, shipowners, flag state, and the Government of India to immediately secure their safety and arrange prompt repatriation,” says the post.
CBI files charge sheet against 13 accused in NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge sheet against 13 arrested accused persons in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, the agency said on Tuesday (July 28, 2026). All of them are currently in judicial custody.
The charge sheet comes days after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned from the post on July 25, in the wake of over a month-long agitation led by the Cockroach Janta Party.

A truck loaded with stones that was found parked near Jantar Mantar ahead of the July 20 march to Parliament had been seized by the Delhi Police four days earlier and was in police custody when it appeared at the protest site and later outside the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) office, according to a Newslaundry report published on Tuesday (July 28, 2026).
The Delhi Police, however, said claims alleging that the truck was deliberately deployed near Jantar Mantar or outside any political party office were “false and misleading”.
