AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Sunday recalled efforts undertaken during the erstwhile AIADMK regime towards implementing the Phase II of Chennai Metro Rail project.
Mr. Palaniswami was among the dignitaries in Chennai airport to receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when he arrived in the State capital to inaugurate the Poonamalle-Vadapalani Metro Rail stretch and lay the foundation of several projects. “Even when funds from the Central government did not come through, it was the AIADMK government which allocated funds for the project and commenced work,” Mr. Palaniswami recalled.
Retracing his multiple meetings with the Prime Minister urging the Centre to allocate funds for the project, Mr. Palaniswami said ₹63,246 crore was allocated in 2024. “I’m happy to see that the seeds sown by the AIADMK government have now germinated.”
The former Chief Minister said that he believed in good deeds speaking for themselves and said he was against manipulative politics through social media reels.
