Terry Butcher played 77 times for England.
Terry Butcher has lived a full life in football.
He won the Uefa Cup while playing for Ipswich under Bobby Robson; he was an England regular throughout the 1980s, winning 77 caps and playing at three World Cups; he captained Rangers in their late 1980s heyday; and he had a varied coaching career that started at Coventry City and took him to Australia, China and the Philippines.
He’s also Pat Nevin’s cousin, one of only two England players born in Singapore, and, of course, a heroic figure when in a blood-soaked shirt.
Not many people in the game have experienced as much as Butcher.
