Puthiya Tamilagam founder K. Krishnasamy on Sunday announced a protest rally in Paramakudi on September 11 to condemn the Tamil Nadu government’s continued use of the term ‘Adi Dravidar.’
Addressing reporters in Madurai, Mr. Krishnasamy said although the department had been officially renamed as Social Welfare Department, Minister Vanni Arasu still relied on the older reference
“After fighting hard to have our community recognised as Devendra Kula Vellalars, we are being overshadowed by the ‘Adi Dravidar’ label,” Mr. Krishnasamy added. He added that the party would hold a demonstration against this.
He also criticised Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin for describing VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan as a “principle-oriented leader.”
“How can someone who constantly alters their stance for political position be called a principle-oriented leader? Changing positions for power is not a principle. Udhayanidhi still has a lot to learn. Would he dare compare Thirumavalavan to towering figures like C.N. Annadurai (DMK founder and ex-CM), Periyar [E V Ramasamy], or M. Karunanidhi (former CM)?” he asked.
