The Tamil Nadu government will constitute a policy advocacy committee engaging major industry stakeholders to ensure ease of doing business in the State, said Minister for Industries S. Keerthana in Coimbatore on Saturday (July 4).
At a meeting organised by the Southern India Mills’ Association, she said the government will study the demands of textile associations, especially those related to reducing power tariff and strengthening textile processing sector.
Durai Palanisamy, chairman of the Southern India Mills Association, sought annual banking facility for windmills commissioned after 2018 for captive consumers; allowing excess solar power generation; withdrawing network charges for rooftop solar power generation; and a solution for the treatment and disposal for textile effluents at a competitive rate.
The Tiruppur Exporters Association joint secretary Kumar Duraisamy sought government support to construct affordable housing and dormitories for migrant workers, education facilities for their children and development of a textile and apparel park in Tiruppur.
