NFL updates from the 2.30pm BST kick-off at Wembley

Week six: Seahawks 14-17 Broncos | Email Graham

CJ Stroud of the Houston Texans talks with teammates during the warmup before the match against Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley.

Five minutes to go until kick-off … the Jaguars are rumbling on to the hallowed Wembley turf. Lawrence is getting a lot of hype (from me) but their defense has been quietly very good too. Especially in stopping the run. No running back has gained more than 40 yards against the Jaguars this season.

So as Brighton (3-0 up after 10 minutes against Palace) are going to win the Premier League this season, who are your unlikely candidates to win the Super Bowl?

Why not the Jacksonville Jaguars. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence is the key to potentially challenging for real this season. He appears to be making the leap finally from good to great. After five games, Lawrence is fourth in rating (106.3), eighth in completion percentage (67.1) and fifth in yards per attempt (8.2), along with 1,174 yards (14th) and 10 TDs (tied fifth). Not the most amazing stats but he is certainly passing the eye test. Just watch his TD to Parker Washington in London last week.

Was anyone at the Jaguars game last Sunday? Surely it must have been the best NFL game London has hosted. The lead swung this way and that wildly at the end to the point where the Eagles must have thought they had won it with eight seconds left on the clock and a 17-16 lead. An unbelievable, seven-second kick return later and Cam Little smashed through the game-winning field goal from 57 yards. Just incredible.

Then later on at midday CST/1pm EST/6pm GMT there is a seven-game slate to get stuck into with some real prove-it potential across the board with regard to playoff ambitions. A very tough set of matches to predict outcomes from …

(3-2) Chicago Bears v Atlanta Falcons (2-3)

(4-1) Baltimore Ravens v Cleveland Browns (3-2)

(0-5) Tennessee Titans v Indianapolis Colts (2-3)

(2-3) New York Jets v New England Patriots (3-2)

(1-4) New Orleans Saints v New York Giants (3-1-1)

(2-2) Carolina Panthers v Philadelphia Eagles (2-3)

(3-2) Pittsburgh Steelers v Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-4)

The early injury news is Caleb Williams is set to return at quarterback for the Chicago Bears. Philadelphia’s QB Jalen Hurts has been put on injured reserve for the Eagles due to a blood clot while another star coming back today is wide receiver AJ Brown for the New England Patriots.

Hello football fans! Week six of the NFL is here and we are coming straight outta Wembley as the Jacksonville Jaguars host the Houston Texans in an AFC South divisional battle beginning at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST/2.30pm GMT.

The Jaguars put on quite the show last week in Tottenham as they beat the Eagles with a last-second field goal as they moved to a 4-1 record. A fine start to the season that will have Trevor Lawrence and company feeling good about handling the 1-4 Texans.

The form book certainly would have you believe Houston will struggle and so does the injury list with running back David Montgomery (groin) and safety Jalen Pitre (shoulder) ruled out. There is hope though as the Texans boast four wins from their past five meetings with the Jags.

Houston’s quarterback CJ Stroud also has a new weapon to unleash with wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr making his Texans debut today. An offense that has struggled thus far may get the spark it needs at exactly the right time as a defeat would not boot Houston out of playoff contention completely but barring a miracle they would surely miss out this year.
