The Juvenile Justice Committee (JJC) of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday (August 24, 2026) sought details regarding the alleged sexual abuse of two minor girls in Krishna district.
Responding to the article published in The Hindu, (Two held for sexually assaulting minor girls, August 10, 2026), the JJC directed the police, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Juvenile Welfare officials, and the Women Development and Child Welfare (WD&CW) Department officials to submit a detailed report by Tuesday (August 25, 2026).
The Committee instructed the concerned officers to provide information regarding the registered case, the condition of the victims, the status of the investigation, and the details of the arrests.
The Krishna district Superintendent of Police, Ch. Vidyasagar Naidu, informed the committee that the Pedana police “had initially registered a missing person case, but later transferred it to the Bandar Taluka station on August 9, where the case was altered and the accused was booked under kidnapping, the POCSO Act, and other charges related to BNS.”
Acting on a complaint lodged by the parents of one of the victims, the Krishna district police arrested an auto-rickshaw driver, M. Vamshi Kiran, and his friend, K. Siddhu. The accused allegedly took the two girls to Rudravaram village in an auto-rickshaw and sexually abused them. The police have also seized the vehicle and the mobile phones of the accused, the SP added.
According to an official, the High Court JJC has directed the officers to explain the status of the case in detail and submit all necessary documentation.
