The ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which made a slew of promises ahead of the Assembly elections, is in no mood to fulfil them, which has triggered agitations across the State, Member of Parliament Kanimozhi has said.
She told presspersons on Tuesday with the reporters at Keezha Eral on Thoothukudi–Madurai Highway after reviewing the work on the construction of the flyover at this village on the four-lane national highway that those who protest against the State government should remind themselves of the ruling party’s poll promises. Farmers, nurses, and other sections of the society, who agitate demanding the execution of the poll promises, were being arrested and cases filed against them, she said.
Even though the names of TVK office-bearers figured in the crimes against women, action had not been taken against them. Emboldened by this, crimes against women, children and others at the behest of TVK were on the rise, Ms. Kanimozhi said.
She said the flyover at Keezha Eral would be completed next year.
