In an Instagram post, the woman alleged that a man riding a scooter approached her and made inappropriate remarks, allegedly offered money in return of sexual favour. She said the incident left her feeling intimidated, disrespected and fearful for her safety. The area she was waiting for the cab was isolated. Even though she was shocked by the incident, she mustered the courage to reprimand him and warned him she would call the police, but the accused slyly moved away, she said.

“As a woman, I should be able to wait for my cab without being treated like an object or being propositioned for money. No one should have to experience this kind of harassment in a public place,” she wrote in her post.

Seeking action from the authorities, the woman urged law enforcement to identify the rider and take appropriate legal action, stating that such behaviour should not be normalised or ignored. She also appealed to the public to speak up against incidents of street harassment.

Responding online, the official account of Whitefield Division DCP asked the complainant to share the exact location of the incident. Subsequently, the R.M. Nagar police took note of the complaint and have initiated a probe to verify the allegations and identify the rider.

Police said further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
