The incident came to light after a passerby recorded the two policemen, who were in uniform and travelling on a motorcycle, allegedly taking money from a person believed to be a shopkeeper. The person who recorded the video questioned the policemen about the transaction and sought an explanation from them.

Caught off guard, the policemen reportedly left the spot without responding. The person subsequently uploaded the video on social media and tagged senior police officials, prompting the department to take note of the incident.

DCP East Division has directed the ACP of KG Halli to conduct a detailed inquiry into the allegations. The two policemen have been summoned for questioning as part of the probe.

A senior police officer said the allegations would be verified and appropriate disciplinary action would be initiated if the inquiry establishes any wrongdoing.

The incident has once again raised concerns over the conduct of police personnel while on duty, particularly allegations of accepting money from members of the public.
