Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday appealed to students to dream big, think differently, and live without fear, emphasising that India’s young generation had the potential to provide solutions to the world’s challenges and lead the country towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.
“Today, the world is looking for solutions and you have the potential to provide those solutions,” he told students at the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Jaigopal Garodia Hindu Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School.
Throughout his speech the Prime Minister addressed the students as ‘Nanbargale’ (Friends in tamil).
“There are infinite opportunities available in India. This is your time. This is your opportunity. I’m confident this dream of ours will come true. Together we will do it,” he said. And in response to him the students showed the placards which they carried which mentioned: “We will do it Modi Ji”
He called for a collective commitment to building Viksit Bharat by 2047, making India one of the world’s top three economies, establishing the country as a global manufacturing hub, and contributing to the development of Tamil Nadu.
The Prime Minister then spoke about the importance of preserving the Tamil language and culture. He encouraged students to travel across India, make friends with people from diverse backgrounds. “I encourage you to discover India. Wherever you go, carry the Tamil culture with you. Share Tamil poetry, stories, and traditions with friends. Make friends with people from different backgrounds. Our nation’s unity is built by the friendships you forge,” he said.
He also highlighted the timeless wisdom of Thirukkural and the influence of Mahakavi Subramania Bharati’s years in Kashi on his national outlook.
Mr. Modi recalled how the school began in 1975 with just seven students and limited infrastructure in West Mambalam, and has since grown into a network of 15 establishments.
He then touched upon the evolving education landscape in India and spoke of the expansion of the country’s higher education ecosystem since 2014, including the growth in universities and colleges.
He spoke of the National Education Policy and called for every young person’s unique skills and abilities to be nurtured.
Mr. Modi also spoke of the growing importance of sports. He expressed confidence that the talent, determination, and capabilities of the country’s youth would help India achieve significant milestones in sports and other fields.
