CJP meeting today LIVE: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) announced that its National Working Committee will meet on August 24 to decide its next course of action. The announcement comes after the outfit raised concerns over the Central Government’s alleged failure to fulfil commitments made to the country’s youth, including assurances regarding the withdrawal or quashing of FIRs registered against students and protesters, as well as compensation for the families of deceased NEET victims....

In a statement, the party alleged that the government had not committed to submitting a comprehensive list of FIRs registered against students and protesters across the country, as directed by the Supreme Court.

“This would have enabled the Court to exercise its extraordinary powers under Article 142 of the Constitution and quash the FIRs simultaneously. However, the government reportedly did not commit to providing such a list,” the statement read.

At a press conference held immediately thereafter, CJP Co-Convener Saurav Das and Legal Affairs Lead Ratna Singh warned that the government appeared to be attempting to “cheat the young generation of this country” after securing the withdrawal of the agitation on the basis of solemn commitments made at the joint press conference.

Calling it an unacceptable breach of trust, the outfit alleged that the Central Government had committed a “vishwasghaat” against the youth of the country.

The party said that all measures necessary to secure the government’s fulfilment of its commitments would remain on the table, including another round of peaceful nationwide agitation, if necessary.

It added, “A commitment made to the youth of India must be honoured, both in letter and in spirit. We therefore request students, young citizens, supporters, and CJP volunteers across the country to remain prepared for what comes next on August 24.”
