The Tiruppur district administration has reached out to educational and training institutions to invite youth to participate in IndiaSkills Competition 2027, organised by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

In Tamil Nadu, competition is being coordinated by the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC). The competition, District Collector Manish S. Narnaware said, serves as a key platform for identifying talented youth for participation at the WorldSkills Competition 2028, scheduled to be held in Aichi, Japan.
Engineering students, polytechnic students, arts and science college students, ITI trainees, students of skill training institutions, and young entrepreneurs in the age bracket of 16-25 (age criteria may vary depending on the skill category) can apply, the District Collector said in a press release.
Competitions will be conducted in over 60 disciplines under six major sectors: manufacturing and engineering technology; information and communication technology; construction and building technology; transportation and logistics; creative arts and fashion; and social and personal services.
Tamil Nadu has consistently taken a lead in skill competitions. Recently, the State emerged first in the South Regional Competition.
At the National level, Tamil Nadu won 46 medals: 12 gold, seven silver, 15 bronze, and 12 medallions of excellence. Twelve participants from Tamil Nadu will be representing India at the WorldSkills Competition 2026 in Shanghai, China, from September 22 to 27.
