Kanniyakumari District Collector M. Prathap said that the district administration would extend support to globally market the handicraft products made by the Kaani tribal people, while participating in the Onam celebrations with the Kaani tribal people at the Tholkudi Multipurpose Training Centre located at Zero Point in Pechiparai.

Addressing the gathering, he said that various special projects were being implemented to improve the livelihood and education of tribal people living in Pechiparai forest area. Highlighting that a special training centre has been started to prepare the tribal youth and students for government exams, he urged the people in the area to make use of the opportunity to succeed in government exams.

He added that a separate brand called ‘Kaani tribal products’ and quality packaging facilities were being developed to market the products made by the tribal people.

Mentioning that, separate sales outlets have been allocated at various locations including the Pechiparai dam area, Kanniyakumari beach, and Nagercoil, he said that also plans to market the products through online shopping platforms.
