As the country commemorates the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, President Droupadi Mumu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in paying tributes to the soldiers who laid down their lives during ‘Operation Vijay’ in 1999.
On July 26, 1999, the Indian Army announced the successful culmination of the operation, declaring victory over Pakistan in the Kargil war after a nearly three-month-long battle on the icy heights of Kargil in Ladakh.

Union Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to address military personnel and veterans during the event to commemorate the anniversary.

Their unparalleled valour, unwavering resolve, and unparalleled patriotism stand as exemplary models of our Army’s glorious traditions, she said.
“The nation shall forever remain indebted to them.
The saga of valour of those heroic warriors will continue to inspire future generations to tread the path of national service and steadfast duty,” the President said.
