The Triplicane police on Friday arrested two more persons, including a doctor, in connection with the alleged attempt to bribe the TVK MLA from Uthangarai, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 11.

The latest arrests came after investigators examined financial transactions linked to the alleged conspiracy to induce legislators to defect from the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government headed by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. The case was registered on a complaint filed by Uthangarai MLA N. Ilaiyaraja.

Earlier, the police had arrested nine persons, including YouTubers Thirunavukkarasu and Naresh. Five of the accused were subsequently taken into two-day police custody for interrogation, which concluded on Friday.

Based on information gathered during the interrogation, the police arrested Dr. Rajasekar of Namakkal and Sethurajan. Investigators alleged that Sethurajan was a close associate of former minister V. Senthil Balaji and a friend of Karthik, one of the arrested accused. The probe also revealed financial transactions between Karthik and Sethurajan.

During the investigation, the police seized ₹56 lakh from Dr. Rajasekar and ₹14 lakh from Sethurajan. Both the accused were produced before a magistrate court and remanded in judicial custody.
