Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address students at Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) on September 5, during the institution’s centenary year.

This will be the Prime Minister’s second visit to a higher education institution since the protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party seeking education reforms. The protests eventually led to the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Mr. Modi was the chief guest at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi convocation ceremony on August 8.

During his September 5 visit, which also marks Teachers’ Day, Mr. Modi is expected to interact with young people, with the discussion focusing on their aspirations and issues shaping the next generation.

In 2013, before becoming Prime Minister, Mr. Modi delivered the Shri Ram Keynote Oration at SRCC, where he spoke about development and the need for ‘Suraj’ or good governance.

In April this year, he marked 100 years of the college by releasing a commemorative stamp in New Delhi.
