Jul 18, 2026 09:11 AM IST Sonam Wangchuk shifted to hospital: A recap of what happened Activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike for 21 days, was shifted to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital earlier today.
A recap of what happened so far: Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Sharma said that Wangchuk was hospitalised in accordance with the Delhi High Court's directions after his health worsened.
The Cockroach Janta Party, the outfit behind the protest, claimed Wangchuk was forcefully taken away from the protest site.
In a social media post, Saurav Das, CJP's spokesperson, expressed concerns over Wangchuk's safety and claimed that he was taken to an "unknown location".
Wangchuk's wife Gitanjali J Angmo later confirmed that the activist was shifted to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital.
She said no medicine should be administered to Wangchuk without her consent and of her doctor.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said he was detained by the Delhi Police earlier today.
In a later social media post, he said he was denied entry at the protest site in Jantar Mantar.
He called for a nationwide protest over the "injustice".
