Jul 10, 2026 10:47 AM IST US rejects Iran's claim of control over transit via Strait of Hormuz The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has rejected Iran’s claim that it controls shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz on July 10.

In a post on X, CENTCOM said the US has helped facilitate the passage of more than 800 commercial vessels and 380 million barrels of crude oil through the key international trade route since early May.

The statement came after Iran claimed that ships could only pass through routes approved by Tehran, amid fresh tensions after attacks on three vessels in the strait. 🚫 CLAIM: Iranian state media claims that transit through the Strait of Hormuz is only permitted through routes designated by Iran. ✅ TRUTH: Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz.
